Why a Real Consultation Beats an Online Quote

Online quotes miss what matters: Sun angles, drainage patterns, soil conditions, snow load, HOA setbacks, ledger attachment options, and the actual height of your back door — none of these can be assessed accurately from a satellite photo. Every serious deck project starts with feet on the ground.

Avoid the expensive surprises: The most painful change orders come from things missed at the consultation stage: a buried sprinkler line, a non-standard ledger condition, an under-spec'd existing footing, an undersized electrical run for outdoor lighting. We catch these on day one.

Visualize before you commit: For complex projects — multi-level decks, integrated pergolas, custom railing systems — we produce 3D renderings so you can actually see your deck before construction starts. Far less risk than designing on paper or relying on imagination.

Honest budget conversations: We'll tell you what's worth the upgrade and what isn't. Composite vs. wood, cable vs. picket railing, integrated lighting vs. retrofit later, built-in seating vs. furniture. Decisions made with real numbers, not guesswork.

Why Eremos

What Sets Our Design Consultation Apart

Our consultation is the same one we'd give a family member building their forever deck.

On-Site Assessment by a Builder

You meet the person who will actually build your deck — not a commission salesperson. Site assessment, measurements, and material recommendations all happen in one visit.

3D Renderings for Complex Projects

For multi-level builds, custom railings, integrated pergolas, or unusual lot conditions, we produce a 3D rendering so you can see exactly what you're committing to before signing.

No Pressure, No Obligation

Our quote is good for 60 days. Take time, get other bids, think it through. If we earn the build, great. If not, you still walk away with better information than you started with.

A 5-minute phone call or quick form fill. We typically schedule consultations within 5–7 business days, sometimes sooner during off-season.

3

Design Concept & Itemized Quote

Within 48 hours you receive a written quote with itemized line items (framing, decking, railing, stairs, labor, permits), plus a 3D rendering if the project warrants one.

4

Decide With Confidence

Sit with the proposal. Ask questions. Compare bids. We're available throughout — no pressure, no follow-up calls every 48 hours. You decide when you're ready.

FAQs

Design Consultation: Common Questions

Real answers from Utah homeowners we've worked with.

How much does a deck design consultation cost?

Nothing — our consultations are 100% free with no obligation. This includes the on-site visit, written quote, material samples brought to your home, and a 3D rendering for projects complex enough to warrant one. You owe us nothing unless you decide to move forward with the build.

What happens during the consultation?

We arrive at your home with a tape measure, material samples, and a tablet for sketching. We measure the space, assess your existing structure (siding, ledger conditions, drainage), discuss how you actually plan to use the deck, and walk through composite vs. wood, railing options, and pricing tiers. Most consultations take 45–90 minutes.

Do you provide 3D renderings?

Yes, for projects that warrant the time investment — multi-level decks, custom railing combinations, integrated pergolas, or unusual lot conditions. Simple rectangular decks usually don't need a 3D rendering; the elevation drawings and material samples are enough.

How quickly can you come out for a consultation?

During the busy season (April–September) we typically schedule consultations 5–10 business days out. During the off-season (October–March) we can often come out the same week. If you're on a tight timeline, mention it when you call.

Do I have to commit to building after the consultation?

No, never. Our quotes are good for 60 days and there's no pressure to sign. We'd rather you take time to make the right decision than rush into a build you'll regret. If you decide not to move forward, we appreciate the chance to have looked at the project.

Can you help me choose between Trex® and TimberTech®?

Yes — material selection is one of the most useful parts of the consultation. We bring physical samples of both brands across the full price range, explain the warranty and color differences, and recommend the right tier for your sun exposure, color preference, and budget.

What building permits does a deck require in Utah County?

Most new decks attached to a home require a building permit in every Utah County city — American Fork, Lehi, Pleasant Grove, Orem, and Provo — typically with snow load calculations, footing depth verification, and ledger attachment specs. Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County have additional plan-check steps for decks over 30" off grade. We handle the entire permitting process as part of your consultation and quote.

Do you charge for revisions to the quote?

No. If after the initial quote you want to adjust scope — bigger or smaller deck, different railing, add a pergola — we revise the quote at no charge. Iteration is part of the process.
